Public Education and Outreach
$5 Million

Texas leads the nation in energy production, producing more crude oil, natural gas, electricity and wind power. However, the state also leads in consumption. Texas' energy use in 2005 represented 11.5% of U.S. energy consumption, ranking Texas ahead of all other states. The confluence of population, climate and energy-intensive industries drive this seemingly disproportionate share.

An enhanced and focused outreach and education campaign will be conducted by CPA/SECO to encourage renewable energy use and support energy efficiency efforts for all Texans which will contribute to energy savings, emissions reductions, cost savings and job creation. In addition, a broad statewide campaign will provide a unified and credible source of energy information to the widest audience possible to amplify existing energy outreach and education taking place across the state.
