Commercial and Residential Construction
2009 IECC
Effective April 1, 2011, the Texas State Energy Conservation Office adopted the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) for commercial, industrial and residential building over three stories. The code applies to R2, R3 and R4 residential buildings and excludes one- and two-family residences of three stories or less above grade.
The 2009 IECC updated the Texas Building Energy Performance Standards previously based on the 2000 IECC with 2001 Supplement. Full compliance with the 2009 IECC would yield approximately 8-15% savings in residential and commercial energy use, while safeguarding the state's valuable energy industries.
